Cowon MP3 Player
Working with the Korean based electronics experts Cowon Systems, tangerine has helped create a hugely successful touchscreen MP3 player - described by PC Pro as “a worthy rival to Apple’s all pervasive iPods”.
Such is the appeal of the Cowon S9 that it sold out within days of its launch in Seoul, 20,000 sets snapped up in 72 hours.
A further 50,000 players were purchased within fifty days.
An exquisite combination of curves, the S9 boasts ergonomic design encompassing ease of use, beautiful exterior, durability, and comfortable grip.
Reviewers have heaped praise on its design and marketing – “a sexy-looking gadget”, “seductive”, “truly stunning to behold” and “as desirable as a portable media player is likely to get”.
Working with Cowon’s world-class technical team, tangerine’s designers helped create the thinnest display ever produced. Incorporating light-emitting organic substances, the system does not require backlight.
Whereas colours and brightness vary with conventional displays depending on the viewing angle, with Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode (AMOLED), the screen produces consistency when watching from the sides.
The design focuses on slim lines and smooth shapes, the perfect surface of the tempered glass meeting the clear, water-drop-shaped sides and continuing to the curved surface of the streamlined reverse side.
