Snoozebox wins German Design Award 2016
tangerine’s design collaboration with Snoozebox, the innovative portable hotel company, has been honoured by the German Design Awards, the premium prize of the German Design Council. The distinction of Special Mention was awarded for Snoozebox’s new hotel rooms, recognising the project for design that features particularly successful solutions.
STATEMENT OF THE JURY
Snoozebox is an extremely flexible, transportable room that provides a high degree of comfort despite its compact dimensions. With this system, a hotel with 100 rooms can be easily set up in a single day. The rooms can transform internally to offer a day lounge and seven different en-suite sleeping configurations within the same room space. Custom made folding mechanisms maximise the space available for the guests and make it possible to reduce the rooms to 50 % of their actual size for transportation purposes.
The German Design Award is the top international prize of the German Design Council. Its goal is to discover, present and honour unique design trends. Therefore, every year, top-quality entries from product and communication design are rewarded, all of which are in their own way ground-breaking in the international design landscape. Launched in 2012, the German Design Award is one of the most well respected design competitions in the world and is held in high regard well beyond professional circles.
